THE TEAM AT BELGARUM.
Our business is not simply about bricks and mortar; our business is about people. How our people deal with our customers is the most important factor in our success. Put simply, we stand or fall depending on how our staff interact with you. All of us live, as well as work, in Winchester. All of us are proud to be part of this community. And it gives us a real sense of satisfaction to help others join or move within the community.
Belgarum’s success has allowed us to grow over time, but the core team has remained pleasingly stable for many years now.
John Leeson - Managing Director
John has lived in Winchester since the late 1980's, and knows the city and its surroundings exceptionally well. Having worked within corporate estate agency for many years, he was keen to apply the training and knowledge in a more personalised fashion for his clients. John is renowned for selling Period properties within Winchester and has lived in Hyde, Fulflood and now lives in the heart of the City with his lovely wife Fiona.
David Leeson - Finance Director and Company Secretary
Believe it or not, David is actually John’s father, and lives just off Dean Lane with his wife Anne. Having enjoyed a successful career in IT with a major UK bank, David lent his support and advice at the start and hasn’t looked back since!
Alex Lambourne - Director
After beginning his estate agency career with a large corporate firm, Alex joined Belgarum shortly after it was established, and to date is the longest serving member of the team. Eager to apply his skills and knowledge in providing personal service to local clients, Alex instantly knew that a strong independent agency was the best environment for him. He is a keen fisherman, though perhaps not very good, and lives in Cheriton with his wife Robyn. Alex was appointed Director of Belgarum in early 2009.
Mark Williams - Head of Residential Lettings
Mark has joined us to head up the Lettings team and has some 20 years of experience in lettings at a branch and regional level for a large corporate firm. Having been based in Winchester some years ago he was keen to return when he spotted our position. With his professional lettings qualifications his remit is to help develop the office and expand the management portfolio working with the lettings team. Mark is a keen motorcycle enthusiast, and will often be seen around Hampshire on his bike - when he isn’t looking after his two children.
Matthew Hicks
Matthew joined Belgarum in 2007 and works within our busy Sales department. He is proud to work for Belgarum and enjoys operating at the highest level within the Winchester estate agency profession. Matthew is a qualified snowboard instructor and lives to the west of the city centre.
Kelly Hindley
Kelly’s background was again based within a corporate organisation. She joined Belgarum in August 2005 and has never looked back. Working in a vibrant sales environment is where Kelly really thrives, and her priority continues to be the provision of exceptional service to clients whether buying or selling, before, during and after their home move.
Gemma Howard
Having joined Belgarum in 2006, Gemma has gained experience in both the sales and lettings operations. Now a key part of the lettings team, Gemma deals with contracts and finances and enjoys maintaining our long-established standards of service to landlords and tenants. Living with her boyfriend Paul and daughter Imogen, Gemma purchased a property in Winchester in 2009.
Louise Bull
Louise was recruited by John and Alex in August 2009 from a national agency chain and based in their Winchester office where she was the sales manager. Since joining Louise has made a impact providing what she terms her “super service” and is a natural calm and collected sales professional who carries out viewings, sales progression and market appraisals. She lives to the South of Winchester with her partner Andy and her two tortoises.
Lizzie Rolph
Lizzie is primarily responsible for the marketing and advertising of clients' properties. Along with the production of all marketing material and graphics, Lizzie’s key responsibilities involve the management of our extensive website portfolio and local and regional advertising.
Ruth Hastie-Oldland
In order to continue our exceptional service standards within our residential lettings department, we were pleased to announce the appointment of Ruth. She joined the vibrant Belgarum team in the summer of 2010 to help maintain these standards for our growing portfolio of clients. She brings with her the enthusiasm to develop and further her career working for market leading estate agents and is currently training for her ARLA technical award.
Charlotte Diaper

Charlotte was recruited in early 2011 to further enhance our strong Lettings team. She brings with her a vast experience within the Lettings and Management sector, along with ARLA accreditation and membership. She assists Gemma with rent collection and finance management, and lives in Kings Worthy with her husband and daughter.
Sara Bruce
Sara has worked for Belgarum since 2009 and offers valuable support in all key areas for our lettings team including viewings, property inspections, tenancy renewals and property management. Sara lives in Winchester with her husband and two children.
