Six miles to the South of Winchester is the historic village of Hursley, which dates back to the late 12th century. It is famous for its connections with Richard Cromwell, John Keble (of Keble College, Oxford fame) and its many tall highly decorated rubbed brick chimneys. Hursley is home to IBM (UK) Laboratories, a primary school, local shops and two great pubs.
