Oliver’s Battery

Spectacular views of the city and open downland.

Two miles southwest of the city, this elevated area provides some stunning views. The parish is named after Oliver Cromwell, whose army camped here during his siege of Winchester in the English Civil War. Most of the 700 houses were built in the 1960’s and early 1970’s, providing well-planned and airy living spaces.

Oliver’s Battery has a parade of local shops, two primary schools and is walking distance to the highly rated Kings School. Nature reserves and country parks encircle the village, which gives easy access to the M3.
