Avington is an idyllic location within the heart of the Itchen Valley, an area renowned for its beauty and its outdoor recreational pursuits, including beautiful walks, riding and of course chalk stream fishing on the world famous River Itchen. There is a Church and pretty period and character cottages, as well as a nine-hole golf course, the neighbouring village is Easton.
There is a local primary school at Itchen Abbas, the independent school Princes Mead is about one mile away and there is a convenience store in Kings Worthy. There are excellent transport links with easy access to the M3 (to London and the South Coast) and the A34 (connecting to the Midlands). There are very special walks along the banks of the River Itchen and through Avington Park.
Ovington is a quiet village situated on the banks of the River Itchen, within the South Downs National Park. Surrounded by magnificent open countryside and famed for its chalk stream trout fishing the village also offers excellent walking and riding. The Pilgrims’ Way provides riverside walks through picturesque countryside with the village benefitting from an excellent public house The Bush Inn, and St. Peter’s Church. Neighbouring villages of Easton and Itchen Abbas offer a wider range of amenities including a primary school and a choice of pubs.
