Xmas burglaries 'underline importance of home insurance'

Bradford & Bingley has joined the ranks of insurance providers
in reminding homeowners to the importance of home insurance at
Christmas.
Earlier this month Direct Line warned homeowners to check their
home insurance in view of the fact that high value presents being
stored in homes may not be covered by the owner's existing
policy.
Now, Bradford & Bingley has drawn attention to the fact that
with homes packed full of consumer goods for presents, burglars
often choose the festive period as a time to target homes.
This is borne out by the fact that 76,000 homeowners will be
subject to intruders over Christmas time, leaving those without
adequate insurance both present-less and thoroughly miserable, Dan
Foyle, head of general insurance at Bradford & Bingley
said.
"With so much money and effort invested in the Christmas period,
people should make sure that they don't overlook the necessity of
protecting their home and its contents from unwanted
visitors.
"Christmas should be a fun time of the year - by making sure that
you have adequate home insurance cover in place, you can enjoy the
festive season in the knowledge that the contents of your home are
protected should the worst happen," Mr Foyle commented.
