'More deciding to commute'

A growing number of homeowners are opting to leave the city behind
and are relocating to more attractive suburbs, Savills has claimed
this week.
Director of Savills residential research Lucian Cook claimed that
more people are beginning to commute into London from areas
including Surrey.
This is because a great deal of money can in these cases be knocked
off house prices with each minute that is travelled away from the
city, he considered.
But quality of life is also a deciding factor in consumer's
decision to move to other areas, the official remarked.
"Often, you find that those areas are some of the built up
accommodations within an hour of London. Equally, people are really
accepting much a longer commute - there is a real increase there,"
he commented.
He added that these areas outside of the city are seen as "sexy" by
modern commuters.
In 2007, long-distance passenger kilometres increased to 4.2
billion kilometres, the Office of Rail Regulation has
stated.
