House prices doubling in seaside towns

People with properties they are looking to sell in seaside towns
around England and Wales are now finding some of the most
favourable price increases of all areas of property.
According to the latest statistics from the Halifax, homes in
seaside towns have increased in value by 97 per cent on average
over ten years, while the median level for all UK property is
around 95 per cent.
However, Seaham in County Durham has outperformed all other areas
of the country, with price increases hitting 183 per cent since
February 2002.
Martin Ellis, housing economist at Halifax, commented: "Seaside
towns are still very popular places to live. They offer a unique
lifestyle that for many can't be matched elsewhere."
It was recently reported by the Rural Housing Association that
homes in more countryside-oriented areas are hitting high prices
because of the fact that they are more desirable for those seeking
out a quieter life.
