Halifax to offer home buyer help

In recent weeks, with the stamp duty holiday having ended, and
people facing additional costs to buy a home, some banks such as
Santander have offered to help first-time buyers with their stamp
duty costs.
However, now the Halifax has launched a deal which it says will
help out a wider range of people rather than just first timers, as
it will pay 50 per cent of stamp duty for anyone who takes a
mortgage from it on a house between £125,000 and
£250,000, even if they already own a home.
The bank said that, in the first quarter of this year alone, almost
half of all purchases have sat in this price band, and noted that
many people need help with the additional cost they must
foot.
Stephen Noakes, mortgage director, Halifax said: "Buying a home is
one of the most expensive purchases many will ever make and the
costs associated can place an extra burden on homemovers."
